As part of an initiative to bring the latest technologies to our firm,
the Advanced Technology Division was established in 2006. The premise of this division is to identify emerging and
leading edge technologies and incorporate them into the HEI workplace. The Division establishes procedures and training
to implement these technologies and tracks the utilization and success in terms of client satisfaction and quality
assurance companywide. Theresa Henneman Lehr, Vice President, is director of the new Division.
The infrastructure supporting all the engineering analysis and design
is a Microsoft Windows based network with dedicated engineering/CAD Workstations. Engineering analysis is conducted
with the latest software analysis tools. Our construction drawings are drafted utilizing the latest version of AutoCAD and
adhering to a company wide standard. It is anticipated that in the near future, 3-D representations will become standard
and eventually a 4-D drawing incorporating project schedule will become routine.
Document transfers to clients are conducted electronically via our secure
FTP site or email. More than a terabyte of information is exchanged every week among the Henneman Engineering offices.
This information transfer and electronic documentation will be managed by a company wide document management system.
This will increase efficiency, company wide by streamlining document tracking, retrieval, storage, and control. A paperless
office is the ultimate goal.
With use of high speed desktops, portable notebooks, and smartphones utilized
by most of our personnel in the office or in the field, we are connected on a “24/ 7” basis. This delivers business value by
cutting cost, fostering real time collaboration and decision making. This leads to a much faster response time for our client’s
needs and in-field decisions, where project schedules dictate.
We currently utilize video conferencing at our offices for communications with
clients or among offices. We have the capability to connect up to four offices through multi-point calls and can include others
without video conferencing capabilities via telephone. During a video conference call, we are also able to clearly display text
or drawings via document cameras. In the near future we will utilize voice, video, data, and web to connect with our clients
anytime and anywhere in a virtual office.
