Adult Detention Facility

The new 65,000-square-foot Champaign County Adult Detention Center was designed to accommodate inmates ranging from work-release to maximum security.  The facility was constructed to house 140 inmates with future expansion capability.  Designed to optimize security with respect to operational staff requirements, the facility features an innovative video arraignment system.  Also included are complete prisoner reception and classification areas, as well as kitchen and laundry facilities.

Henneman Engineering, in partnership with HLM, was responsible for all site development and engineering.  Although the construction budget and schedule were tight, the total project was completed in 18 months at approximately $1,000,000 below budget.
