Designed a new HVAC system for a 6,000-square-foot office suite of the Illinois Senate.  The previous HVAC system had several design and operational deficiencies, which created favorable conditions for growth of mold within the office space.  Henneman Engineering evaluated the existing systems and worked with an industrial hygienist to determine the causes of mold growth, and designed a new HVAC system designed to eliminate the environmental conditions favorable to mold growth.  The new system features an energy recovery makeup air unit and new fan-coil heating and cooling units serving the entire office suite.  Each fan-coil unit is designed to be housed in an insulated enclosure to eliminate the potential for formation of condensation within the exterior wall as previously occurred.  Since the entire project had to be designed and constructed during the Senate's summer recess, the project was designed and competitively bid within a five-week period.
