Henneman Engineering was a member of a team of architects, engineers, and demographers who prepared a facilities assessment of all Champaign Unit 4 School District buildings.  Henneman’s role was to evaluate the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in all buildings.  The buildings included two pre-kindergarten schools, eleven elementary schools, four middle schools, and two high schools.

The facilities study had three main goals:

• Evaluate the existing condition of the district’s buildings. The study examined current conditions, deferred maintenance, and provided cost estimates as well as prioritizing the maintenance items.
• Evaluate the district demographically. The demographic study looked at the present utilization of buildings as well as demographic trends to help the district identify capacity issues and the potential for acquiring land for schools in the future.
• Evaluate possible building projects. The study offered options for the district to consider relative to additions, renovations, or new buildings, and also provided some cost estimates for different projects.
