Infrastructure Master Plan Study and Implementation

Chicago State University

Chicago, Illinois

Henneman Engineering completed a comprehensive survey of the campus\'s existing chilled water and high temperature hot water systems which included an evaluation of the existing equipment, the distribution systems, and current operational techniques.  Henneman then constructed detailed hydraulic models of each system and analyzed the results.  With the information obtained, Henneman provided the university with a long range plan on how to rehabilitate and expand both systems with the growth of the campus.  Included in this plan were operational changes that will maintain the viability of the existing distribution piping and increase the overall efficiency of both systems.  Subsequently, Henneman implemented the initial phase of the recommended expansion by designing the addition of a 50 MMBTU high temperature hot water generator and converted the hot water system to primary-secondary pumping.  Additional cooling tower capacity was also added.
