Juvenile Detention Center

This minimum-security juvenile detention facility has a capacity of 39-beds in four separate housing pods. Common activity rooms, classrooms, computer rooms, a full kitchen, group visitation and interview rooms, juvenile intake/outtake areas and staff support spaces make up the 25,000 SF of space.
This project started by demolishing the existing office and courtroom spaces and utilizing the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection system components.
Henneman Engineering’s work included HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty systems.

- Security CCTV surveillance
Unique challenges of this project included:
- Maintaining services to an occupied 1st and 3rd floor.
- The 911 Center, located on the first floor, required the removal of the ceiling of the occupied space for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection work to be completed.
- Creating an opening through 2nd and 3rd floors for the new gymnasium.
