Parking Deck Expansion

Village of Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights, Illinois

Because of a shortage of parking, The Village of Arlington Heights decided to expand their existing parking deck.  The project called for expanding the garage five stories vertically and two stories horizontally.  The total expansion to the existing garage was approximately 130,000 square feet, and provided parking space for approximately 427 additional cars.  The new parking deck now accommodates a total of 1,204 cars.  The project also included installation of three new elevators and new entrance and exit ramps.  The electrical work involved replacement of existing electrical service to accommodate the new elevator and lighting loads, and design of fire alarm and intercom systems.

Henneman Engineering also designed the addition of new light fixtures to existing portions of the garage to bring lighting to required levels.  Mechanical and plumbing design included new exhaust fans, drainage system, and standpipe risers.
