Reception and Classification Center
Stateville Correctional Center
Crest Hill, Illinois
Crest Hill, Illinois
This new 900-cell (1,800-bed) reception and classification center was built on the grounds of Stateville Correctional Center, making use of its west perimeter wall for security. It maintains its own utilities, operations services (including dietary, laundry, and storage) and administrative functions. Major operational functions are housed in separate buildings. This facility was designed to permit a 600-bed expansion.
A 200-cell (400-bed) minimum housing facility was also constructed on the grounds of the center. The design allows for future expansion to include facilities for education and vocational training.
Henneman Engineering was responsible for mechanical, electrical and plumbing design inside the fence (two-thirds of the project) and coordination of all MEP design for new facility including a 800 KW/1000 KVA emergency generator.
