For over 90 years the Winnetka Community House (WCH) has been enriching the lives of the people of the North Shore suburbs of Chicago by providing a wide range of cultural, artistic and recreational services.  The existing facility was constructed in stages from the early 1920's to the late 1970's, and consists of meeting rooms, studios, kitchen, fitness area, gymnasium, early learning center, auditorium and offices.  Henneman Engineering was commissioned to perform the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and fire alarm design to upgrade the existing facility to the latest Village of Winnetka Building Code, and to add an additional 17,000 square feet of banquet and fitness facilities.

This work involved the following:

• New electric, water and sewer utility services
• New air conditioning units and boilers
• New electrical distribution system
• Addition of fire protection sprinklers throughout the facility including a new fire pump
• Addition of smoke detectors throughout the building including a new fire alarm control panel and all new ADA compliant alarm devices
• Complete MEP services associated with the 17,000 square foot addition
• Infrastructure for a future classroom wing to be added at a later date
