YMCA of Rock River Valley Northeast Branch

Rockford Park District

Rockford, Illinois

Because the downtown YMCA, built in 1964, had reached its capacity and expansion was limited, a new full-service facility was designed to serve the growing community in Northeast Winnebago County. The new YMCA of Rock River Valley Northeast Branch, a 53,200-square-foot facility built on a greenfield site, is a joint effort between Rockford Park District and SwedishAmerican Health System.

The facility included a Swedish-American medical wellness center, warm water therapy/family pool, family gymnasium and kids’ center, multipurpose room, free weights and cardio center, teen center and senior activity area, administration offices, and meeting rooms.  The Northeast Branch provided programs and services for people of all ages, including family activities, adult health and fitness, youth sports programs, wellness programs, mentoring, tutoring and computer classes, and recreation and social programs.

Henneman was responsible for all mechanical and electrical engineering and plumbing/fire protection design including bidding and construction phase services.
